Who lives at The Brighton?

More than 225 residents live in The Brighton's 123 apartments.

The Brighton community includes a very diverse group of

independent seniors and their families.

Spoken languages include Amharic, Somali, Oromo, Arabic, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Spanish and English.

Our goal is to benefit moderate to low income seniors

(60 and over) and their families with below market rents, enabling them to live independently, continue involvement in the community, and maintain a high quality of life.

  • The Southeast Seattle Senior Foundation Mission for The Brighton Apartments is to provide comfortable, safe, and affordable housing for seniors and their households who are at 60% or below the median income for King County.

  • The Brighton is located in Seattle's Rainier Valley, halfway between Columbia City and Rainier Beach.

  • Families and friends of seniors (60 years or older) are welcome to live in the same apartment.  Multigenerational living is a priority with The Brighton.

  • We are an independent living facility.  It is not an assisted living facility.  Residents needing personal assistance with care, cooking, and housekeeping must make their own arrangements for those services.

  • Rental rates for The Brighton are well below current market rates. Please call for information about our rental rates, qualifications for residency, and other details.

  • The Penthouse, a large, comfortable space with a complete kitchen, bathroom, and seating area, is available to rent for all residents.  Outside rentals for meetings, classes and social events are also welcome.

  • The Metro bus stop is half a block away.  It is a short ride to several grocery stores, the library, post office, community centers and restaurants.

  • Service animals, only, are allowed at The Brighton.

  • Onsite Office Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.  The phone number is (206)722-3922.
